Your Child's First Visit

We believe the first dental visit sets the tone for a lifetime of healthy habits. We make it fun, gentle, and memorable.

When should my child first visit the dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends scheduling your child's first dental visit by their first birthday — or within 6 months of their first tooth erupting. Early visits help us monitor development, spot concerns early, and build positive associations with dental care from the start.

What Happens During the Visit?

01

A Warm Welcome

Our front desk team will greet you and your child by name. We keep the atmosphere light, fun, and completely judgment-free.

02

Meet Dr. Dokova

Dr. Dokova will sit down with you — not just your child — to understand your concerns, your child's history, and any questions you have.

03

Gentle Exam

We do a thorough but gentle exam of your child's teeth, gums, bite, and jaw. For very young children, this may happen on your lap.

04

Cleaning & X-rays (if needed)

Depending on age and development, we may do a gentle cleaning and age-appropriate X-rays to get a full picture of oral health.

05

Parent Guidance

We'll walk you through brushing techniques, nutrition tips, and answer every question you have — no rushing, no pressure.

06

Sticker Time

Every visit ends with a visit to the prize box. Because milestones deserve celebrating.

Tips for a Great First Visit

A little prep goes a long way toward a positive experience.

Schedule in the morning when kids are rested and cooperative

Use positive language — say 'counting teeth' instead of 'check-up'

Avoid words like 'hurt', 'shot', or 'drill' before the visit

Read a dental-themed book together the week before

Let them bring a comfort toy or stuffed animal

Celebrate afterward — it's a big deal!

What to Bring

Completed new patient forms (or arrive 15 min early)

Insurance card(s)

List of any medications your child takes
